Today I got to test X-Treme's new XB-200Li super folding electric bike, and man, was I ever pleased with the build and performance of this bicycle. It's easy to haul around, coming in at only 39.5 lbs., and folds down to an extremely compact 25” x 31” x 7”, which can easily fit under a desk or in the back seat of a compact car. The folding feature is extremely cool. I've never seen an electric bike fold down to such a small size.
There was minor assembly required, but it was a snap and went pretty quickly. After adjusting the seat and handlebars, I was up and ready to go. I took off down my dead-end street and was amazed at how zippy and responsive this XB-200Li electric bike is.
It's a pretty swift electric bike, reaching a top speed of 15 mph unassisted, and a lot faster if you pedal. The 7-cell lithium ion battery pack is very lightweight and can provide up to 25 miles of travel. The X-Treme XB-200Li's li-ion batteries power a 300 watt motor which directly drives the rear wheel. All this is controlled by a comfortable variable twist throttle that cuts out when you apply the brakes. And when you do need to brake, you come to a stop pretty quickly due to the reliable dual WinZip disc brake system, which is always a plus in my book.
Oh, and since the battery pack is so lightweight, I can see easily carrying a spare to swap in when the batteries run low, which makes this bike able to attain a pretty far range. I was able to zip through three communities with ease.
I like the handling on the X-Treme XB-200Li, too. The steering is extremely responsive, allowing you to avoid any obstacles that may come into your path as you move from point A to B. The handlebars, as well as the seat, are fully adjustable with a wide range to accommodate most any rider up to 250 lbs.
It's also got a LED headlight and reflectors on the pedals and seat, so that you're sure to be seen on the road.
